Shawn Welling (born December 12, 1964) is an American photographer and film maker who began his career as  a dance choreographer and theatre performer. He is the founder and current sole owner of the Planet Funk Dance Academy in Houston, Texas. Planet Funk an organization whose dance teams have toured globally. As a filmmaker, Welling features well know dancers in documentary,feature length, and web series films.  

Shawn Welling is winner of over 96 accredited IMDB Film Festival awards including awarded Best Film in 2009 and Best Director 2011 from Houston Press and the coveted WOD Industry award for Best Film Director in L.A.  He lives with his wife, Michelle and two daughters, his dog Ranger, and macaw, in Houston where he owns and operates Welling Films.  Shawn has directed over 30 films and 25 television and web series garnering over 100 million online views today and sold out crowds in movie theaters from AMC, Landmark and Regal.  

Most popular accomplishment is his famed dog film “If I Could Talk”. Welling has directed such notable actors as Lee Majors (Six Million Dollar Man) Michael Biehn (Terminator), William Forsythe (Once upon a time in America) Terri Kiser ( Bernie in Weekend at Bernies) Les Twins (Men in Black) Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan) and Jake Busy  (Starship Trooper) to name a few.
